In terms of the golf swing, whether you're a left or right handed player, you are the center. We all use terms such as core, center, hub, turn, axis and more. Since we are the hub, we control everything that happens which is in connection with us: club, arms, hands, shoulders etc. Because this turn is so important, we often say it is the priority. If you can perform a strong, efficient and balanced turn, you will probably play good golf.

After a golfer performs their pre swing routine the turning of the core is THE SWING!

During a lesson other parts of a good swing are addressed, but only after the pre swing routine is assessed and I see that the student makes a good, balanced finish to the target and standing with almost all their weight on the front foot. Good players will tell you their hands do nothing during a golf swing and I agree. It's the turn which performs the magic!

In an effort to make a better golf swing, try working on stretches, especially with the golf club, making swings. After all, the muscles you are using to swing are the muscles you'll stretch.

    Keep Practicing the Fundamentals
