You didn't know there'd be a quiz!?
Answer: During a swing, the clubface remains square to the player 100 percent of the time, not the target. As a matter of fact, we do not seek to have the clubface square at impact!
If you ask a big time golfer, meaning a golfer who plays golf for his income, what his hands do during a golf swing, he will probably say, "after I grip the club, nothing."
This is very important, because over the course of many lessons, I have experienced a big number of players make moves with their hands. The moves are unwarranted and usually create the need for another bad move to resolve the first bad move. Once you have implemented a proper pre swing program, change nothing. All we need to do is turn away from the ball, then turn forward to the target. There are other moves associated with the swing, but none of them involve additional, independent hand movement or effort.
The statement advising a golfer to keep hands passive is overwhelmingly worthwhile. The wrists set to create angle, the player will release that angle during impact. There are moves that occur, but they are naturally occurring, such as supinate and pronate. But, you do not need to do anything once the hands are properly set on the club. Pretty easy stuff.
