Swinging Too Fast?
Golf Lessons with Steve, including "how to change your swing speed"

SWINGING TOO FAST?!
No such thing!!! How can there be too much speed when we're trying to play a 5 mile golf course? Immediately, following someone's comment that a golfer friend's swing is too fast, comes the predictable next comment: "Well then, I'll slow it down". That's the answer, swing slower and realize even SHORTER golf shots!
When an instructor says your swing is too fast, IF they know what they're speaking about, they mean the vertical plane is not coordinating with the horizontal plane, and usually that means hands are faster than the belt buckle, for example. The horizontal is our turn, core pivot, rotation or whatever term you choose. The vertical is our ferris wheel, windmill, arms, hands, shoulders and club working their way up, down and up. I usually use the hands as representatives of the vertical, and belt buckle for horizontal due to proximity. They work as one which is where we get the term one piece golf swing, connected swing or coordinated swing.
Rather than slow your hands, why not improve your turn speed? You are the axis, center and power all in one. The faster the center moves, the faster the rest of the swing moves. Pretty simple. Hands can easily keep pace with the turn, but a weak or slow turn cannot catch fast hands.
I can show you many ways to affect a better, more complete, more efficient, more powerful turn thereby adding a power source as well as a pivot with which to coordinate.

Up, Down, Up, Up!
In terms of swing thoughts, this may be a good one: Up, Down, Up, Up. When the shoulders turn and arms go up on the backswing, that is up one. Down…
