Let's get right to the basics of golf swing mechanics. These are the same points I would cover with a Tour player and were addressed by my instructors when I competed. The basics do not change, they only become more refined depending upon the level of player I am instructing.
Within an acceptable window, all players do basically the same thing in setup and during a swing. All the differences are merely individual and personal moves or adjustments we all make.
Never forego the necessity for a precise pre swing routine: same movements every time, within approximately the same time frame. If you recall one of my blogs dealing with GASP, grip, alignment, stance and position of the ball within the stance.
Following the GASP we make a practice swing. This move reviews our turn, (horizontal move), and (vertical), club, arms, hands and shoulders. If we feel good and like the swing, we address and hit the ball. Do not think of the moves, just perform. If we're warming up, (not practicing), or playing for score: do not think of your action, just move in rhythm.
Simple basics, that's all we deal with: turn and return while club swings up and down. Feel the up and down move in synch with the turn. Keep it that simple.
